LOPES de LIMA

LUANDA - ANGOLA

Project: 32 dwelling units,

5 500sqm offices and parkade
Architect: Thibault Faÿ

Year: 2016

Budget: R 250m

Located in Luanda in a hot and humid climate, the development is made of an office building on the main street and a condominium building at the back in a quieter street.

All parking requirements are fulfilled in the basements of the two buildings. The office building rises at 10 storeys with its concrete structure and glass façade. The construction has a flexible plan allowing multiple organizations in the 550 m² floors. To reduce the air conditioning consumption the whole glass facade is protected by metallic modular louvers placed on the facade as waves bringing animation on the street side. The space between the louvers and the glass façade allows to maintain and clean the building. The Condominium building rising at 11 storeys is composed of 32 dwellings designed to have a great connection with the surrounding with the whole windows being floor to ceiling. The bedroom windows are protected by sliding louvers which reduces the solar heat gain and the large sliding windows of the living room and kitchen can be fully opened to extend the apartment on a wide covered terrace.
